1.To visit Tenryu-ji Temple(UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Tenryu-ji is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the “Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto”. The decorative painting of a dragon drawn by charcoal on the ceiling called Unryu-zu is opened to the public on weekend and holiday as well as special visiting seasons in Spring, Summer and Fall that is opened to the public everyday.

2.To visit ShiShiku-Garden at Hogon-in to see Shishiiwa(lite.Lion Rock)

Shishiku means Buddha’s preaching. Usually the place is closed expect the special seasons in Spring and Fall. You can see a pine breaks through a rock to grow up. And there is a rock looks like a Lion at the garden.

3.To visit Sanshu-in to see Sanshu flowers
It’s closed to Tenryu-ji Temple where you can see a lot of yellow flowers Sanshu earlly in March. Sanshu-in enshrine the one of the Tenryu-ji Temple Seven Deities of Good Luck called Daikokuten.

There is a lof of stone buddha and stone monument to bury remains of the dead which had been left unattended. On August 23rd and 24th, they put candles for their memorial service every year.

Gautama Buddha(Shaka-nyorai) statue was made over 1000 years ago. Inside of the statue, there is fake stomach made of cloth and they are both known as national treasure.

12. Sightseeing the Nature on a boat

Rent a cycle There is several spots that you can rent a bicycle around Saga Arashiyama Station. If you want to go a bit far from the staion and go around the area, it’d be a good idea.
